90’s hip hop in Old Town

What started out as a sophisticated evening in Hornstull with drinking Maker’s Mark and talking philosophy of life  with a lovely couple and their little baby  in their lovely apartment( the baby did not drink the Manhattans) ended up with hiding from a crazy cab driver  a la The Fugitive with Harrison Ford.

Me and my big sister started out the evening by saying we would have a glass of wine and absolutely no drinking after midnight. Maybe a little dancing.  At around midnight when we were standing at my favorite lookout point with a view over Stockholm making proclamations for the year to come, we knew that the night would be one to remember. And it was.

After a long long detoured walk through soder we ended up i a small club in Old Town where the theme was 90’s Hip Hop. After showing of our best robot and dancing man moves we decided to catch a cab home.

Turns out Stockholm’s cab drivers can be crazier then those of New York. The driver was so sleazy me and my sister bolted out of the cab at a red light only to be followed by the crazy man for 30 minutes. Thank goodness the south Island of Stockholm has lots of little one way streets. Not that it stopped this man. He drove illegally looking for us. And were were we? Hiding behind cars and between parked cars, behind statues, and  in door ways. After half an hour of half- panicky giggling hiding we gave up. And so had the driver.

We made it home safe.  The next day was spent  horizontally eating Thai take out and marathon watching movies.
